By Alex Case

Tuesday Feb.10th, 7pm
Devlin Hall - Room 026
Boston College

Directions can be found HERE.  Devlin Hall is located in the center of the Chestnut Hill Campus.  Parking is available in the Commonwealth Ave Garage for a minimal price.  You could also park on Commwealth Ave for free. The entrance for Room 026 is in the rear of Devlin hall.

Alex Case looks under the hood, explaining convolution in terms that are accessible to the recording engineer.  DSP engineers are welcome (for sure!), but this gathering of the Boston Audio Engineering Society is for the practicing recording engineer – live, studio, tracking, mixing, mastering, video post-production, game sound, etc.  Join us for a discussion of convolution and its application to audio today.  Appreciate its capabilities.  Learn its limitations.   Find out how to get the best-sounding results -- add convolution to your production repertoire.

Alex Case teaches Sound Recording Technology to graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.  He is author of "Sound FX - Unlocking the Creative Potential of Recording Studio Effects," published by Focal Press.  Case is an extremely active member of the Audio Engineering Society, locally and nationally:  a frequent presenter from section meetings to international conferences, Tutorials & Workshops Chair for the New York conventions, Chair of the Education Committee, Faculty Representative for the UMass Lowell Student Section, and past-chair of our own Boston Section.  He encourages non-AES-members to attend this meeting along with the professional and student members to learn about convolution and, more importantly, to get to know others in the Boston area who are active in audio and passionate about sound quality.  You'll want to join: http://aes.org/join/
